Athlete’s Foot

Athlete’s Foot also known as tinea pedis is a fungal infection that usually affects or starts in between the toes and gradually spreads to the toes nails and hand.  The name was derived because it usually affects athletes.

Risk factors

  • Tight shoes and damp socks
  • Walking bare foot in high risk area such as pools

Itching in between toes

Blisters and ulcers

Scaly red rash

  • Use of foot wears in the pool areas and bathrooms
  • Use of foot powder
  • Change socks regularly
  • Do not share shoes and socks


Non pharmacological

Foot hygiene: ensure to keep the feet clean and dried especially in-between the toes
